Wood in the focus – the WOODBOX for the first time in Germany.
The WOODBOX was opened in Aachen in front of the Elisa Fountain (Elisenbrunnen) on 1 September by Mayor Marcel Philipp in the presence of representatives of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, as well as partner organisations and the press.01.09.2015
Mayor Marcel Philipp stated that the city of Aachen did not need to think twice about supporting the walk-in wooden container, since wood speaks for itself.
The buildings and constructions around the city of Aachen and in the Eiffel region are characterised by handicraft. Hubert Kaiser from the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety is convinced that due to certain facilitations in the standards the share of timber constructions in North Rhine-Westphalia is going to increase significantly in the future (9% at present) and that wood and timber are going to become as equally important and as often used as other construction materials. Another activity is a tender for timber construction prices.
