First results: very interesting projects of multi-storey hybrid buildings made with CLT modular elements
2nd consultations with Prof. Schickhofer & Prof. Gangoly29.05.2017
In two days block (Zagreb, 18.5.2017 & Ljubljana, 19.5.2017), the second consultations with Prof. Hans Gangoly, his assistant Eva Sollgruber and Prof. Gerhard Schickhofer took place at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb and Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana.
In Zagreb the 14 students presented their intermediate designs made under constant supervision of Prof. Sanja Filep, Prof. Ivica Plavec and Prof. Vlatka Rajcic. The students showed very interesting projects of multi-storey hybrid buildings, mostly made with CLT modular elements, in which they combine the offices and residential area.
In Ljubljana the participants presented their concepts of transformation of a district in Ljubljana, remains of an old village with its typically one-family houses, into a modern houses settlement. With a regular help of Prof. Marusa Zorec, Prof. Roman Kunic and Prof. Bostjan Brank they made diverse projects which used the potential of CLT elements.
It was seen, that they put a lot of efforts into research of wooden constructional elements. They made nice examples of wooden constructions, that set perfectly in the urban area. The engineering students are with the help of professors dealing very good with the task, they had some problems with the connections, but during the consultations with Prof. Schickhofer they solved them.
After seeing all the intermediate designs, we are looking forward to the final event, to see all the finished projects and how they used the potential of CLT elements especially in multi-storey buildings.
The final day in Ljubljana will take place on Thursday, 8.6.2017 and the final event in Zagreb will be on Monday, 12.6.2017. At the final event, all the groups will present their designs and the best project from each university will be selected. The authors of the selected project will be invited to one month internship at TU Graz.
